Handmade is the loom upon which I weave
With all the charm and love of being homemade, I like to think a little of this magic is woven in to and travels with each of the scarves I make
About Weaver Rae
This is Rae Weaver. Weaver by name, weaver by nature, you might say
With a foundation in green woodworking and willow craft, her explorations into rural craft began early on. It wasn’t until she had realised a common curiousity into textile weaving, that her partner Eric and her taught themselves to weave upon a loom designed and built by Eric, who is a traditional ships-rigger by trade. You can find out more about the curious work of the Loomsmith here: The Making of the Loom
On Cornwall’s most westerly peninsula of Penwith, surrounded and captivated by all things land and sea, heath and heather, wood and canvas - this is where it all began. Rae calls upon these elements for her nature inspired luxury accessories of British and Cornish wool
Rae has a studied diplomas in both contemporary and traditional art and design and hand-crafted furniture-making. Her studies also encompass native botany, horticulture and environmental conservation
Creativity has always been a key component of Rae’s identity and core interests. Especially utilising clothing and accessories as forms of self-expression, art and identity. A passion for music is reciprocated in the natural rhythm that Rae finds in her weaving. She has a developed a skilled eye for selecting and blending colour and texture to form unique and timeless pieces that encapsulate her ancient rural homelands of Penwith and West Cornwall
Rae’s love for rural craft has offered a means of simplifying a complicated world and acts as a vessel in which to navigate and find peace after travelling with grief since a decade ago. Made with minimum impact on the environment, Rae creates as a considered and optimistic response to a fast-paced world: To offer a tactile and nostalgic means of comfort and an aid for meditation and calm
Her tiny weaving enterprise was formerly known as Henry Weaver Designs

“In autumn, the colours in the natural world just pop contrasted by monochrome skies…
You notice this especially when watching a squall rolling in off the Atlantic in the low sun. Offset with the swathes of rusty winter bracken that you peer over the tops of when out walking”
